Hablando de nuevo de grupos musicales japoneses, hoy toca tratar a uno de los más influyentes de la última década Dir en grey (ディル アン グレイ).
Talking about new japanese music bands, now I'm going to write about one of the most influential grups of the last decade Dir en grey (ディル アン グレイ).

Esta banda de rock se formó en 1997, y ha estado en constante evolución, habiendo formado en sus inicios del movimiento "visual kei" ha optado por un estilo más discreto en los últimos tiempos, a la vez que se han enfocado en la calidad musical.

Las raíces de Dir en grey apuntan al grupo independiente La:Sadie's, en la cual participaban cuatro de los miembros de la banda, al disolverse y con la partida del bajista Kisaki, Kyō, Kaoru, Die y Shinya y un nuevo bajista Toshiya formaron por poco tiempo el grupo Deathmask, cambiando su nombre a Dir en grey en 1997 tras un show en Nagano.
Dir en grey roots are the independent band La:Sadie's, where four of the actual members took part, when the band was dissolved and the bass player Kisaki left them; Kyō, Kaoru, Die and Shinya and a new bass player Toshiya created a new band "Deathmask", changing the name to Dir en Grey at 1997 after a show in Nagano.

Esto llamó la atención de Yoshiki de (X Japan), quien produjo los sencillos de su segundo álbum GAUZE, lanzado en 1999. Largas giras siguieron al lanzamiento del disco, uno de estos (filmado en el Osaka-jō Hall) se convirtió en una de sus primeras presentaciones grabadas para VHS y DVD.

En el 2000 Kyo, el vocalista, es hospitalizado con problemas auditivos y con varias fechas de conciertos en apoyo del disco que estaba por salir, "Macabre", el cual tuvo que posponerse. El "Tour 00 >> 01 Macabre" se reanudo ese mismo año y concluyó en el Nippon Budokan, poco después del lanzamiento del sencillo "Ain't afraid to die" en Abril de 2001.
At 2000 Kyo, lead voice was hospitalized with audition problems when they had many concert compromises to support the release of the EP MACABRE, that had to be postponed. The "Tour 00 >> 01 Macabre" resume activities that same year and conclude the tour at the Nippon Budokan, a bit later the release of the single "Ain't afraid to die" at April 2001.

En los años siguientes, junto con su tercer album de larga duración, Kisou, dieron sus primeras presentaciones fuera de Japón, con Tours por China, Taiwan y Corea del Sur. De regreso a Japón, en las últimas fechas del Tour "Rettou Gekishin Angya" fue en apoyo de su disco Six Ugly. En el verano de 2003 Dir en grey se presentó en el Akasaka Blitz por cinco noches en una semana. Cada show (con excepción del primero) tuvo como tema uno de sus discos, el último con el entonces todavía inédito Vulgar.
Next years, with their third EP "Kisou", the made their first concerts outside Japan, with tour in China, Taiwan and South Korea. Going back to the island for the last concerts of the "Rettou Gekishin Angya" Tour supporting their work Six Ugly. Summer 2003 Dir en Grey gave presentations at the Akasaka Blitz 5 nights in a week. Every show (except the first) with music of a different EP, the last one about the yet unpublished Vulgar.

Tocó en dos de los principales festivales, Rock am Ring y el Rock im Park. Envolviéndose más en la escena de la música internacional.

En 2005 tuvieron su primer lanzamiento europeo con el disco "Withering to Death". Su música antes era conseguible por esos lares pero por medios como la importación y la distribución por vía internet. Con este disco Dir en grey logró posicionarse en los "charts" no asiáticos.

En 2006 su tour se expandió a los Estados Unidos, la banda tocó en Austin Texas en el South by Sothwest festival (tocada de la que no me enteré si no me hubiera lanzado vivo relativamente cerca), en Nueva York (Avalon Club) y en L.A. (Wiltern Theatre)seguido del lanzamiento americano de Withering to Death.

En febrero de 2007 tuvieron su primer tour de primera línea visitando 17 ciudades mientras su sexto album de larga duración "The Marrow of a Bone" salía a la venta en Febrero 7 en Japón, y en meses posteriores en EU y Europa.
In february 2007 they had their first big tour visiting 17 cities while their 6th album "The Marrow of a Bone" was being sold at feb7 in Japan and some months later in US and Europe.

En diciembre de 2007 tuvieron otro tour por Japón celebrando sus 10 años como grupo, el 19 de diciembre sacaron a la venta un par de discos dobles "Decade 1998-2002" y "Decade 2003-2007" los cuales les puedo confirmar que estan excelentes, ese diciembre anduve por Japón y estuvieron entre mis adquisiciones.

En Agosto anunciaron el lanzamiento de su séptimo album de estudio Uroboros que saldrá a la venta en noviembre 11 en EU que será precedido de un tour por EU y Canadá.
In August they announced the release of the 7th studio album Uroboros that is going to be in the market nov 11 in US and later will have a tour in US and Canada.
